Well, you made it through the home inspection. But now you may have an issue or two that need to be repaired after your inspection.
Hiring a contractor, getting them to show up, and getting the project finished can be a daunting task in itself. So how can you hire the right contractor? Here are a few things that may help.
First, be leery of the salesman. Many companies have an estimator or salesman that show up. And that is great, but it doesn’t show you who will likely be working on your project.
Try and see if you can meet some of the crew. Ask if there will be a foreman and how much time he will be on site. Are they insured and bonded? Good questions to ask as well, but be sure to verify by obtaining a certificate of insurance and bond from them.
Also, be leery of relying too heavily on online reviews. While they are helpful, not all good reviews are real, and not all bad reviews are truthful. So take them with a grain of salt.
Lastly, have the work verified, and let the contractor know you will be doing this upfront. Contact us and we can help you with this aspect.
